Date Night Ideas – Pack a Romantic Picnic

This is one of my all-time favourite dates. Jimmy T and I have picnics everywhere. From our tongue in cheek “ute-nic” (which involves parking somewhere pretty with food), to a full blown gourmet picnic in a romantic locations with a full spread.

It is a super versatile date, and can be delivered at all price ranges; The easiest version of this date is in the rain, on the floor of the lounge zone with a blanket and some snacks. No planning. No dollars. Lots of fun.

The most romantic takes a bit more planning and requires a beautiful location and some gourmet food. Some of my favourite locations are King Edward Park for the view & the vibe, Naru beach at Pelican because of the lovely deep swimming and the easy access, or a sunrise at Toronto Foreshore – it’s only 5 from my house and so pretty!

Pack a picnic basket with delicious food – cheese & crackers, fruit, chocolate and wine or champagne & drive to a scenic lookout to surprise your partner with a picnic. You could pack an early morning breakfast hamper (don’t forget coffee!) and watch the sunrise, or head out at sunset for a romantic rug ride.

Make sure that you vary the location, you could try the beach, the lake, a local park. If, like me, you like a bit more privacy, you could go to a nearby National Park or Nature Reserve. Check out local attractions and sites for a great picnic on your regional tourism website, or pop into a tourist information centre to find some new hidden gems to romance you partner.

Pro Tip: Bring an extra blanket to snuggle under!
